3rd Generation is the generic term used for the new generation of mobile communications systems. 3G systems provide enhanced services to those - such as voice, text and data. This includes Video conferencing and downloading Video clips such as Premiership Goals.
The vision for 3G was based on the previous generations 2G system of the GSM standard, but evolved, extended and enhanced to include an additional radio air interface, better suited for high speed and multimedia data services. This system enables users of current 2nd Generation GSM wireless networks to migrate easily to the new 3rd Generation services, with minimal disruption.

This when installed tries to send its own components to any bluetooth device in range. This Virus forces the battery life to shorten because the Bluetooth Cannot be switched off.To prevent Cabir virus, keep Bluetooth profile 'Hidden', in case the cabir message file is received (caribe.sis), try aborting the installation, if the virus has entered the phone, install the following software in the phone www.f-secure.com/tools/f-cabir.sis which will then search and destroy the virus components

The Multimedia card (MMC) Trick For Nokia

In order to swap the memory of two Nokia phones, but with memory cards wherein one phone has Reduced sized multimedia card(RS-MMC) compatibility and the other phone has Multimedia card (MMC) compatibility. There are 5 steps which will prove to be of great help. Follow the instructions below.
1. Remove the RS-MMC card,
2. Remove the MMC card
3. Now hold the RS-MMC card in hand
4. Simply insert it in the slot meant for the MMC card in such a position where all the pins connect with the pins on the slot of your MMC Compatible phone,
5. Fix the battery and switch on the phone.

By pressing x + # (where x is any number) will show the telephone number stored in that particular location. For example, pressing 125 in idle mode and then pressing "#" later, will show the 125th number stored when the number are entered in your phone-book.

1. Remember your device lock password
TIP: Be certain to remember your PASSWORD if you enable the phone lock feature. Without your password, your phone will need to be reset at the place of purchase, which will result in the loss of your personalized settings and all content stored in phone memory.

2. Bookmark mobile-friendly websites
Many websites support ‘Mobile friendly editions’ (e.g. www.CNN.com/togo/) or ‘lo-fi’ versions. Choosing to bookmark these sites will provide a more efficient mobile web experience.

3. Save pictures and videos to storage card by default
TIP: To set storage card as the default location to save pictures and videos, in Thumbnail view go to Menu > Options > Camera. If you will have the option “Save files to: Storage Card”.

4. Customize the time limit for your videos
To change time limit for videos, in Thumbnail view, go to Menu > Options > Video. If you will have the option set video length to 15 seconds, 30 seconds, or no limit.

5. Synchronize Notes on your Motorola Q
Notes created in Outlook are not directly supported in Microsoft® Windows Mobile 5.0, Smartphone edition, and cannot be synchronized directly to the Motorola Q. Notes may be used with third party applications or alternative sync solutions such as GoodLink™.
NOTE: Alternatively, users may find it useful to utilize Tasks to synchronize personal notes and/or to-do’s.

6. Navigate Contacts by Category
Make it easier to navigate large Contact lists by using the Category field to differentiate ‘Business’ and ‘Personal’ contacts, for example. When searching Contacts, choose Menu > Filter by.

Power Saving Tips N Tricks

1. Set your synchronization schedule

You can set your Motorola Q to automatically synchronize with your PC at time intervals that you specify, so that auto-synch doesn’t interfere with your peak usage time.
Press Start.
Select ActiveSync.
Press Menu.
Scroll down and select Schedule.
Scroll down to Peak Times.
Scroll right to choose the right option for your needs.
Press Done.

2. Use your screen dimmer

Set your screen to automatically dim after your Motorola Q is idle for a certain period.
Press Start.
Scroll to and select Settings.
Scroll to and select More.
Scroll to and select Power Management.
Scroll to Backlight Time Out on Battery.
Scroll left to decrease the time delay from 10 seconds to 5 seconds.
Press Done.

3. Disable Bluetooth® connectivity when not in use
When you’re not using your Bluetooth® headset and accessories, you can easily turn this function off.
Press Start.
Scroll to and select Bluetooth.
Select Bluetooth Manager.
Scroll to and select Settings.
Scroll left to deactivate Bluetooth on your device.
Press Done.

4. Control the number of applications running
You can minimize the number of applications that run at one time.
Press Start.
Scroll to and select System Tools.
Scroll to Task Manager.
Scroll to the application you’d like to end.
Press Menu.
Select Kill for that single application or Kill All to end all running applications.

Calling Tips N Tricks

1. Call Forwarding

Dial *72 + the number you wish to forward to. Press “SEND”.
To deactivate call forwarding, dial*720 “SEND”.
Listen for confirmation, then press “END”.

2. Conference Call

Place your first call as usual, then dial the second number and press “SEND” again. When your second call connects press send again to connect both calls.

Email Tips And Tricks

1. Place a call from your email screen
You can respond to an email quickly by placing a phone call to an existing Contact. Simply highlight and select the name or address and the contact will appear on the screen, including phone number(s).

2. Toggle between email accounts
If you have two email accounts (personal and business) and frequently get text messages, you can easily toggle between the various accounts without going to Home screen each time. When you are viewing any account, you may arrow Left or Right on the Nav Key to navigate your accounts

3. Auto-sync one email account
If you have two email accounts assigned to your device, only select one to automatically sync. Set your Exchange server Active Sync (business email ) peak times so they don’t conflict with your peak personal email usage times. This will also improve your overall battery life performance. See Power Saving Tips and Tricks for instructions on how to Set your synchronization schedule.

4. Sync items in your Sent Folder
In order to sync Sent items (personal or business email ) select Folders, then Menu > Manage Folders > choose the Sent folder and select Sync (Right softkey).

5. Send an email from a calendar notice
You can send an email from a calendar notice when any email or contact information is provided in the meeting notice.
Open up your Outlook Calendar.
Scroll down and open the appropriate appointment.
Scroll down to the email address underlined in the body of the appointment using the navigation key or the thumb wheel.
Press the action button in the middle of the navigation key.
Select the email account from which you wish to send the email
Press the action button in the middle of the navigation key.
Type out your email and press Send.

6. Send a URL from Explorer
While in Explorer, you can send a URL directly to somebody via email by selecting Menu > Tools > Send link via emailail Tips and Tricks

Send Free SMS Anywhere

Instead of paying for your messages, you can alter a number in your phone to send to a different centre. This cannot charge you, and consequently you have free SMS!

How does it work?
Message Service Centre, or SMSC. This SMSC is generally a telephone number, normally a memorable one- i.e. Orange's is 0973 100973. Here, it is sent to the recipient's network's SMSC, where it is then forwarded to their phone. The whole process takes only seconds, but the vital part is when it reaches your SMSC, because then it is forwarded, and you are charged according to your tariff. If you, however, change your SMSC number to one below, the network who forward the message will not know who you are, and consequently cannot charge you. Clever huh?

Does it always work?

No! It can take hours to find a number that hasn't been blocked by your network- they usually carry out checks monthly and bar any numbers known to be forwarding SMS. Also, I understand that Orange and all networks in Denmark have barred all numbers aside from their own- so it won't work with Orange or Danish networks.
